Sva∂ilfarí believes Icelandic horses are responsive to a team approach in training. While incorporating different training methods, we focus on working with Icelandic horses the way they have been raised and trained in Iceland for over a thousand years. We tailor our approach to meet the specific goals of each rider. Whether you are looking for your young horse to be started under saddle, your pleasure horse to improve on the trails or fine tuning your competition horse for the show ring, we can do it!

Andrew first came into contact with horses before he could walk when his family would take him along to Churchill Downs in Kentucky. He’s been hooked on horses since then. Andrew has worked with Thoroughbreds, Standardbreds, Arabians, Norwegian Fjords, Belgian and other Drafts as well as Shetland Ponies. He worked as a trainer for many of the top breeding/ training farms of American Saddlebreds and has won well over 50 national first prize awards. Along with training and competing, he has worked as a farm manager and breeding manager at two of the top Saddlebred farms in the country. Having a lifelong passion for Nordic history, Andrew became involved with Icelandic horses after a trip to Iceland and the rest of Scandinavia. Since then he has devoted himself exclusively to the breed. His motto is: “Icelandic horses are not just a smooth ride but a way of life.”

Sva∂ilfarí provides professional riding instruction for both children and adults. Riders of all levels of experience and ages will learn under the instruction of Andrew Yost, professional trainer and farm owner.
